Okay, let us assume that New Zealand is what The Bank calls high income.
    From the article

The World Bank also released a third standard for high-income countries,
like the US, at $US21.70 a day.

    Unquote

(Greece and Oz and Canada are also on the
    list.)

The $21.70US a day is net pay. At 70 cents Kiwi to the US $. We get $31.00
NZ. This turns out to be $217 per week net pay.

Toss in a tax rate of 10% and lets call it $240/week. or $6/hr for a 40 hour week.

People at last we have a poverty line figure.

Now I assume this is per person, so a household would need 4-5 times as much for one bread winner. Say $1000 per week. Increased tax rate will take some
of it and this will be offset by Cheaper to live as a family than
    individuals.

1000/40=$25/hour. or $12.50/hour for two bread winners in a household.
Remember this only gets you on the poverty line.

Why would you want to make an ass out of u and me Gordon? I'd put us as closer to the upper-middle-income at $US5.50 a day.

This isn't net pay. It's what they live on.

No! What we have is a minimum income.

Now I assume this is per person, so a household would need 4-5 times as much for one bread winner. Say $1000 per week. Increased tax rate will take some of it and this will be offset by Cheaper to live as a family than individuals.

What on earth makes you think New Zealand is in that bracket. Our PM might be in that sort of bracket but bugger all others are.

It's only one specialist operators definition. A start but I bet it doesn't even come close to Adern's definition of poverty if she and Labour actually have one which I doubt.

And that would be the starting wage.
You -do- know that for most employees who prove their worth within the
first month or so that's about the length of time they're on that rate.
