The problem is that new and inexperienced leaders who "may" have a bit of righteous fervour almost always fall for old tricks like this.
I certainly did not pick the 11.7B hole as doubtful at first, but then I was not looking for political glory. Joyce is masterful at this sort of thing.
I do not want a party that cannot play the political game in power.
I believe in fair dealings, except that in politics you will not win that way. Suck it up and learn Labour and maybe in 3 years you might be ready.

Your hypocrisy is showing, Tony. You decried the "alternative facts"
and other lies from Trump, but now describe Joyce as "masterful" for
similar lies - and opint out that this is not the only instance of his
use of such "dirty tricks." Your claim that you want a party that
plays "the political game" is inconsistent with your asssertiont hat
you believe in fair dealings. Thankfully there is a chance that MMP
may give National the result they deserve of a period in opposition -
this morning we hear of a report conveniently not released until after
Lawrence Yule won an electorate seat, showing that National are indeed
experts at deception, lying and "the political game" as you put it. I
    prefer honesty.

No such party has ever governed and since none ever will, no need to expand further on that score, Tony.

    I believe in fair dealings,

Most people do, and this embraces every aspect of life.

except that in politics you will not win that way.

Again, I think you'll find most people know this only too well, Tony. In fact, anyone interested in politics has long since taken it as read that his own idealistic notions are unlikely ever to be realised to his own satisfaction.

You prefer the "honesty" of liars and thieves.
I do not like the way that Joyce behaves and I never said that I did, I merely quoted from the opinion of someone else. Using the word masterful does not, to anyone with any literacy whatsoever, imply agreement or admiration of his methods.
Once more you read what you want to see, not what was written. Hypocracy is yours and you are a most unpleasant old man.

preaching is beginning to bore me.

    Then simply ignore my posts.

Indeed, I'm in no doubt that you have the good sense to ignore me, but such
sense as there may be is, as ever, over-ruled by those same characteristics that stunt your efforts at debate.

    I am convinced by your
demeanour that you understand at best a quarter of what you pretend to understand.

The evidence to date is that you are convinced by many things, Tony, the most
lame of these being your incorrigible conviction that your redundant ruminations are even worth having.

Probably best to ignore him, Tony. He's got nothing better to do than puff up his rather empty life here.

Yes, even I occasionally commit a typographical error, even you have on rare occasions.

preaching is beginning to bore me.

When I worked for the BBC my colleagues, who like myself were professionally qualified engineers (yes that means tertiary qualifications of varying sorts), sometimes referred to technical operations people as cable humpers. I found this to be unacceptable; after all we did not really know what tech. ops. people did or what skills they needed. There was very little interraction between the two disciplines. I mentioned my dislike of this on more than one occasion.
However based on the meaningless stuff that you post here I am beginning to understand where that prejuduce came from.
Keith, your dislike of this country is so profound that it has become a joke. Why you stay here is beyond the wit of mortal man to comprehend.
But I will say one thing for you, the way you childishly and ineffectually try to put down people with whom you disagree is worth a chuckle. Not a long chuckle but a chuckle nevertheless!
