I didn't see that comment, and it wasn't in the text or the sound link
from Morning Report. Where did you get it from?

This is the third National-led government since 2008 - are you able to
provide any reference for an enquiry being asked for before the three successive National-led Governments?

Dame Susan also said the UN should insist New Zealand do more to stop
the disproportionate representation of Maori on the wrong side of the
    justice system.

She appeared before a UN committee in Geneva overnight.

She said if the government did not hold an inquiry into historical
abuse in state care, it would fail in its duty under the Treaty of
    Waitangi.

Dame Susan told Morning Report that she considered it her duty to
raise uncomfortable issues before the UN.

"My responsibility as Race Relations Commissioner is to be the
watchdog, to hold the government to account, and to put the view - in
many cases, an opposing view - of how well we are, or aren't, doing.

"I wouldn't be doing my job if I hadn't raised the issue of historic
    state abuse."

She hoped her speech in Geneva might help put pressure on the
government to finally take some action, she said.

"This is the right thing to do, and if I can't raise it at the home of
human rights - I really hope that the government will finally do the
    right thing."

This is the third National-led government since 2008 - are you able to
provide any reference for an enquiry being asked for before the three
    successive National-led Governments?

Here is the link I posted and the full text:

<sigh> Yes Dickbot, you posted that already so no need to repeat yourself. >>

Dame Susan also said the UN should insist New Zealand do more to stop
the disproportionate representation of Maori on the wrong side of the
    justice system.

Perhaps Maori are best placed do do more to stop disproportionate representation of Maori on the wrong side of the justice system?

She appeared before a UN committee in Geneva overnight.

God, what a waste of taxpayer money.

You missed "al" in Useless National's. I have asked JohnO to give the reference for his quotation - he may be one of the Useless National's

There is no basis whatsoever for the stupid assumption you made. It was not

If there is no basis for the assumption that the "successive governments"refered to by Devoy refers to the last 2 or three
governments, then you would be able to show evidence that the
investigation was being called for prior to Novemmber 2008. But you
can;t - you are making the opposite assumption that I have made, and

prove me a liar - unless of course you can find a reference to the

    2008.

I prefer to think of both of us having made assumptions - with my view
being that Devoy was clearly talking about at least the current
government; it is just a question as to whether she was asserting some culpability to the government before November 2008. Without evidence,
you are just as much a liar as I am - how do you feel about that?

I didn't see that comment, and it wasn't in the text or the sound

did say "The refusal by successive governments to investigate is not >> >> >> >only wrong, it is immoral. This is not my New Zealand and I urged the >> >> >> >UN to tell our Government to do the right thing"

My assertion was that Devoy was referring to the last three
governments - all National-led. I cannot prove that, but it is a
reasonable assumption given that an investigation was not being called
    for prior to the 2008 election. If you think there is a lie, prove me >> >> >> >wrong . . .
No you imbecile, you have to prove you are right. You cannot so you lied, or
    if
you prefer "you made it up" - I prefer you lied. Clearly the case.
There is no basis whatsoever for the stupid assumption you made. It was not
reasonable. A lie - once more. Desperation once more.
If there is no basis for the assumption that the "successive
governments"refered to by Devoy refers to the last 2 or three
governments, then you would be able to show evidence that the
investigation was being called for prior to Novemmber 2008. But you
can;t - you are making the opposite assumption that I have made, and
demonding that I prove you a liar. I can do that no more than you can
prove me a liar - unless of course you can find a reference to the
investgation being called for from a government prior to November
    2008.
I've seen better logic from my cat. Just because something is historical doesn't mean it can't fall within the scope of an investigation.

Stop wasting my time trying to fit ever more angels on the head of a pin.

I prefer to think of both of us having made assumptions - with my view
being that Devoy was clearly talking about at least the current
    government;

Successive governments mean different. The three terms of National are one government. Stop being a dick trying to argue that black is white.

We are currently in the 51st term of Parliament of New Zealand -
commony referred to as the 51st government. The three parliaments led
by Labour were the 46th to 48th.

Can you show that there was any call before the 2008 election for an
inquiry into historic abuse in state care?

Just a reminder about what this thread is really about: http://www.radionz.co.nz/news/national/337274/devoy-asks-un-to-take-action-on-nz-state-care-abuse

After a fairly rocky start, Susan Devoy has developed into a competent
assessor of government actions relating to race relations -

" . . . .She said if the government did not hold an inquiry into
historical abuse in state care, it would fail in its duty under the
    Treaty of Waitangi.

All your arguing about the edges doesn't change the fact that the last
three terms of government have had National leading and for at least
three years there have been calls for an inquiry, which Susan Devoy
believes the government should have heeded.

Do you support the lack of response by National? Lying won't make
that call go away, and won't change the reality that it's hard to get
National to do what is right.

it is just a question as to whether she was asserting some
culpability to the government before November 2008. Without evidence,
you are just as much a liar as I am - how do you feel about that?

You have nothing to the contrary other than meaningless drivel that you make up out of your tiny diseased little mind.

No you imbecile, you have to prove you are right. You cannot so you lied, or
    if
you prefer "you made it up" - I prefer you lied. Clearly the case. >>>>>>> There is no basis whatsoever for the stupid assumption you made. It was
    not

I prefer to think of both of us having made assumptions - with my view
being that Devoy was clearly talking about at least the current
    government;

Rich stupid must be an accolade to you. Only a moronic marxist muppet
like you would expect a cite for something that has never happened! :)

Here's a cite of the last time you made an honest post : "......."
    <Rich shit flushed>

Do you support the lack of response by National? Lying won't make
that call go away, and won't change the reality that it's hard to get National to do what is right.

Bullshit! Everything National does is right just as everything your
Liebor/4% party does is left Rich.

it is just a question as to whether she was asserting some
culpability to the government before November 2008. Without evidence,
you are just as much a liar as I am - how do you feel about that?

You have nothing to the contrary other than meaningless drivel that you make
up out of your tiny diseased little mind.

This has to be some of the most feeble rationalisation I've ever seen from
Dickbot - and that's saying something. The guy just makes shit up and then
either runs away, diverts or makes more shit up to hide the >other shit. >>>>> I can accept that politically active people stretch the truth; what I find
repugnant about Rich is that he cares not one jot about real people, and tries
to hide that with lies and abuse! He is in love with some imaginary political
    utopia that will never exist!

Well there's bound to be self-interest hidden beneath. In every socialist dystopia the party elite live like royalty.

You can be quite sure that Maduro and his inner circle in Caracas won't be
going short of toilet paper while the rest of the population wipe their arses with newspaper. And it's quite obvious that Kim Jong Un and his generals in Pyongyang are well
fed while the rural peasants starve. Such is the way of real world socialism. >>>>

No, you dick. The current government is the Fifth National Government. You are talking about terms of government. The Fifth Labour government is the previous government 1999-2008.

Can you show that there was any call before the 2008 election for an
inquiry into historic abuse in state care?

Why yes, Dickbot, I can! Here is the response emailed to me by the NZHRC:

    Kia ora John

Survivors of state abuse have been calling for an official response into the abuse they suffered for decades while in government run institutions: the abuse
went back right through to the 1950s. So we are referring to governments from both sides of the
house when highlighting the fact that successive governments have failed to address historical state abuse.

Please check out our website http://www.neveragain.co.nz/learn_more to find out
more about our campaign for an inquiry and public apology.
