    It's superb.

And if the Greens had their way it would never have been built.

"The Green Party has consistently opposed pushing ahead now with the controversial Waterview motorway, instead advocating investment in public transport and better provision for cycling and walking journeys."

Yeah, right. As long as the Politburo members don't have to...

Went to a funeral at Orewa a short while ago.
An exercise in itself getting through the Auckland traffic without incident. One of the major concerns was the numbers of empty bus lanes and bike
lanes while all the traffic lanes remaining were chock full.
And the roadworks.... every so often looking old and deserted..
A lot different when I lived in Henderson

The biggest scandal is the space taken up by cycle lanes. Last I saw, 2% of commutes are taken up by cyclists, yet on some major commute thoroughfares the cycle lane is taking up more like 20% of the road causing needless congestion for proper vehicles.

Just to appease a noisy minority.

I think that its the 'feel right' movement...
Just had a cycle/walkway installed below home.
There is a bit of traffic but not enough to cover the expense of a car
width concrete path with fencing and ornamental doohickies.
It's a pleasure way and noway a shortcut or a quick commute to anywhere.
And two streets now have traffic lights in the middle so the
    cyclists/walkers can cross in safety...
