• Leadership - gone

From Gordon@3:770/3 to All on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 05:45:22
I think it is fair to assume that the PM is considered to be the leader of
the country, as well as the political party.

This latest debarcle shows once again how our elected members are somewhat arrogrant and the leader is forever hopeful that he will not be backed into
a corner and retro actively take some sort of action.

Scenes we would like to see. One of your tribe has been doing some
activities which the people of NZ think are just not on PM.

    Right then I'll investigate.

Hold press conference. It has come to my attention that a party MP has not
been hounourable or decent. I have fired him and informed the Party organisation that he is no longer welcomed to stand as Party MP at the next election. He needs time to think what he has done.

Instead we go this denial, then memory loss, and then when really backed
into the corner, I have been decisive and the matter has been sorted. I got some heavies to ensure he did just enough to get this out of the headlines. Nothing to see here, move along please.

Pretty funny in a very sad sort of way.

Quite right Gordon - a shambles and English has been careless. He
wont be held to account because voters will continue to consider him
and National as the most credible political choice. So Labour cannot
capture national party voters in spite of incidents like this.

Nothing to see here, move along please.

Which past Labour PM was fond of words to this effect?

Pretty funny in a very sad sort of way.

Actually a sad indicator that National will sleep-walk into another 3
    years of government.

    TOP anyone?

And as I understand it the 'monitored' person now works for NZ First.

    And

I'm a bit cautious about the 'illegal' claims.
Anywhere you go now, streets, parks and parking, shops, arcades and even private houses all have CCTV.
Does this mean that those caught shop lifting or committing other crimes
caught on CCTV are now free to go and those crimes wiped off their record?

Not clear who you mean? Presumably not Barclay or the Person who tried
to persuade the ex-staff member not to make a police complaint.

Does this mean that those caught shop lifting or committing other crimes >caught on CCTV are now free to go and those crimes wiped off their record? Secretly recording people's conversations without their knowledge is
illegal - your "understanding" could perhaps do with a bit of
education. A separate but related issue is however the need for proof
of intention to record - using taxpayer money to try and cover up
wrong-doing by an MP is at best not a good look for National. Neither
is the attitude that anything is OK so long as you are not convicted.

Yes. No opposition party is able to dislodge National's popularity
though, even with a change in PM and plenty of political ammunition.
