So two races won one point up
    Well done Team New Zealand
    The only question is
When does the Aussie start cheating?

Already has, or at least Oracle has. There is no justification for them being the only team allowed to have two boats and no justification for the stupid bonus point rule.
It should be even handed in all things as far as is possible. Obviously funding cannot be even handed but that is not unique to this sport or competition.

    What cheating?

Oracle's competitive position is patently justified since all participants have
signed up to the same rules in what is nothing more than a private competition between consenting playboys.

    No-one else's business.

Further, if Team NZ has received any government funding from your taxes ($36 million was it this time?), this would also be justified because your democratically elected government has, effectively, agreed to and signed up to those same rules that govern
a 100% private pastime being held in a louche tax-haven paradise not only on your behalf but also in your name.

Squeaky clean. So, mustn't grumble, eh?

I am not grumbling simply stating an opinion.
You ignore the patently obvious however; that is that in order to play we had to sign up for the rules however reluctantly - clearly a judgment call.
That doesn't make the rules fair.
If we win the cup, the government contribution which I completely supported, will be repaid ten fold at the very least.
It is an exciting game and those that call it a rich mans pastime forget that it is the nature of almost all international sport these days.

I felt sorry for you - maybe this will assist your diminished comprehension. "The two America’s Cup events in Auckland were conservatively worth NZ$1.2 billion to the economy with economic impact reports stating a two-dollar return for each dollar invested
A further legacy of the Cup and New Zealand’s round-the-world racing successes has fuelled the NZ marine industry - now worth NZ$1.7 billion with 1000 companies employing 8000 people and 500 apprentices in training"

Indeed - its a ovely story, isn't it? Those Tourism publicity people
know how to work an historic event. Over a decade ago, and we are
still spending at least $10 miillion a year on the pretence that
nothing has changed. It may have escaped your notice but the boat
building induistry took a very large hit with the GFC, and we now have significant competition overseas in that industry - we are exporting
builders and designers as well as sailors . . .

Yes I am sure that if we win there will be a high return on the
investment in this challenge - but really the "investment" in previous unsuccessful challenges should also be taken into account. The
    opportunity cost has been high.

Now about that "100% pure" story http://media.newzealand.com/en/story-ideas/middle-earth-media-resources/

    We used to have a reputation for straight-talking . . . .

Again, the only way the US has of winning the Cup is by cheating.
That 4th race was an eye opener.
To win such a race by over a minute is in the same league as when
Connors couldn't see the NZ boats hull, they were so far ahead :)
    Well done.
And though its claimed to be a 'rich mans sport' this level is more to
    do with technology and innovation.
The "rich man's sport" claim is an absolute crock. If that were true the same would apply to American football, basketball, baseball, rugby, cricket and it goes on and on. A crock and something that losers can say about those they despise for working hard and being succesful!

We still do, apart from the left wingers.

Meanwhile ETNZ are demonstrating to the world how resourceful, clever and agile
New Zealand is - in a highly technical area and against hugely wealthy Leviathan opponents.

For the record, the only government money this ETNZ campaign has received has been a Callaghan Innovation R&D grant. And it has paid itself off already as can be seen above.

Even Larry Ellison comes to NZ to get high tech carbon fibre components built for his yachts.

    What cheating?

    Correct.

Oracle's competitive position is patently justified since all participants have signed up to the same rules in what is nothing more than a private competition between consenting playboys.

Your 'playboys' comment may apply to some of the teams but not to Team
    NZ.

    No-one else's business.

Further, if Team NZ has received any government funding from your taxes ($36 million was it this time?), this would also be justified because your democratically elected government has,
effectively, agreed to and signed up to those same rules that govern a 100% private pastime being held in a louche tax-haven paradise not only on your behalf but also in your name.

A Google search revealed no Government funding for TNZ since the 2013
series. Perhaps you can cite otherwise?

Squeaky clean. So, mustn't grumble, eh?
    Yep.

I think that they got a $5 mil development grant to keep some of the
    designers here..
