    That sounds terrible and unfair!

But the devil is in the detail:

"Higher costs for cigarettes and tobacco had a greater effect on
beneficiaries," Stats NZ consumer prices acting manager Nicola Growden said. "About 5 per cent of their spending went up in smoke, proportionally more than most other types of households
    spent."

Oh FFS, five percent! Stop smoking then?

Of course, main benefits are indexed to inflation by the extremely generous,
socialist National government anyway, so it doesn't matter!

Typical of the snowflakes who seem to populate the left. Many years ago
I was a heavy smoker while getting a pretty reasonable salary. I had a
serious health problem partly due to the smoking. I quit. Suddenly I had
a pile of money at the end of the week. I'm now seventy and have been
nicotine free for 22 years. Every time I read a sob story about people
not being able to survive on super I get a serious case of the giggles:)

From experience those who bitch about not having a 'living' income is
usually done by those who have no clue about budgeting or what is meant
    by 'living within your means'.
