    Regrettably the government have fallen into the trap of being less
    than open, and with this one the question is not just whether they
    have been selling citizenships, but if so where the sale proceeds
    ended up. This leaves the government in the situation where even if
    they now front up with more information about these cases (really, how difficult is it to get 138 files opened and read the recommendations
    fo approval and any notes made by the approving minister), thee is
    stil that uneasy feeling that they were trying to hide something.

    In the interests of clearing the names of those invovled, and
    maintaining confidence in our system, it is important that these be investigated by someone independent, and logically that should be the Auditor-general, who should also be given full access to National
    party and party related finances
