• Rich wrong again. Heartland NZ wants National and TPP

From Liberty@3:770/3 to All on Saturday, February 20, 2016 08:29:18
    More good news.
Once again on a traditionally pinko friendly poll. National wins and labour is
    on the skids.
with it flotsam scuttling of to the greens. NZ First is also heading in the right direction of the magic number of 4.9%

Roy Morgan released their monthly poll yesterday (on Curia here) and the first public poll post the TPP protests has National up 1.5% to 48.5% and
    Labour languishing on 27.0%. http://www.kiwiblog.co.nz/2016/02/1st_post_tpp_poll_has_bounce_for_national.html

Not hard to see the day when they replace Labour as the main opposition,
at which stage further elections will be unnecessary as National will
    obviously become our permanent government.

Still awkward when the narrow majority turns and becomes a minority -

The Government has a majority. It will have until next election then it might even increase its majority.
Flaky Polls only show trends. The trend for National tends to be positive. Whereas Labour its all down hill.
It is also a fact until now Government has been National or labour. One trend that really shows
labour is in the shit and fighting for survival with rising popularity of the greens.
It has been ten years since labour has been the most popular party.
Around the time. A very Corrupt labour retrospectively changed the law to legalize their steeling.
and to stop the Clark v Darnton court case.
The only way Labour could form a government is with the racist Peters and the luddite greens.
And labour might be the larger party but on current polling Labour would not control cabinet.
That is a very scary thought.

Just the facts Tony. in the toast year National has been defeated in
two votes ofthe house - not only the result of their loss of the
Northland electorate, which gave NZ First an additional MP, but their
lack of adequate consultation with their "support parties", which
facing falling poll numbers, have felt the need to demonstrate their independence from the "lead party" far earlier than was the case when
Labour led government. Certainly some National supporters appear to
think they have a secure margin, but as a person that claims not to be
a National supporter, would you regard such an attitude on the part of
a National supporter as "clutching at straws"?

At present there appears to be a roughly equal likelihood that the
next government will be a National-led coalition, or a Labour-led
coalition, although some would argue that there is a natural poll
advantage to the government until closer to the 2017 election, but I
dont think that is worth relying on - do you?

So what. We don't live in the 1950s. anymore.
It has even been known for a labour MP to cross the floor. granted it had more to do with saving
    his electoral arse.

It is not that I 'claim' to not be a National supporter. I am not a National supporter (a matter of fact) but those that have left leaning opinions would prefer to think that I am pretending, they are of course simply stupid since there is no reason to pretend. Your clutching at straws is clear enough, the current government have the will of the people and we have an incompetent opposition - at this time the only thing that might cause a government change would be because the people think it is time for a change (this has happened before) or a serious mistake by the incumbent; as things stand it will definitely not be because they want a Labour led government - our population is not that stupid.

At present there appears to be a roughly equal likelihood that the
next government will be a National-led coalition, or a Labour-led

I don't have an opinion and don't actually care because it is unimportant.

    And still ineffectual

    Quite influential
National is a middle of the road party with a vulnerable majority still.
They will try and lure voters from the Greens with blue green policies. Greens are good at calling them out when they fake it.

Nationals good at slapping them down when their stupidity shows on a daily basis victor:)
