The only huge winner was apathy! Labour only managed to get about a
third of the voters out. Sure it was a by-election but when you consider
how Labour is touting it as a landslide because Ardern beat the Greens
by 8000 odd votes. The electorate has something like 36000 registered
voters yet only about one third could be bothered and Angry Little Andy >thinks Labours ready for the main event in September? Dumb buggers been >hitting the cooking sherry again.

You are responding to a troll, Mutley. Of course it was a huge win -
it was won before voting go underway when National found themselves so >intimidated by the prospect of a second by-election loss that they
decided it was better not to stand. Disgusted National supporters just
stayed away, despite suggestions that National may have encouraged
them to vote for the Green candidate to get Adern's percentage of the
vote down. Labour and the Greens were able to show how ready they are
to govern with excellent organisation and mutual respect and
cooperation - a far cry from National's attitudes to even its own
support parties.
National used to be a party that prided itself on standing for every >electorate - they have long since given up on the Maori seats, and the
deals with ACT and Peter Dunne show a disrespect for their supporters
in those electorates.
Your comments are just silly - if you were serious you would have
given some evidence supporting them.

Of course there was no opposition - National gave up at the start -
remember? They recognised that another defeat would not have looked
good, but of course they now can be seen as not wanting to represent
all New Zealanders . . .
Labour and the Green parties get on very well together - they have
different views, but are capable of respecting each others opinions
for the greater good, but both parties put candidates forward for hte election - no jack up there as National has done with the Maori party,
ACT and United Future - or as Mana has now done with the Maori party.
Even in Ohariu, the Green party made an independent decision not to
stand - no jack up there.
Feel free to provide evidence if you think I am not correct with any
of them.
Scaring off your major opponent before the election was indeed a huge
win.
