Yes, that is it maybe. The point of the article is that these business
folks want the Government to *subsidise* the workers wages so that they
can bigger profits.
A causal factor here is that people are willing to work for such low wages.
If they weren't then business would have no choice bu to pay more. That's supply and demand. Currently there's a supply of people willing to work for
the low wages. This is one of the key roles of unionisation, workers should unite and refuse to work for such low amounts.
At the end of the day the work being done is trivial enough that it's very
easy to find someone capable of doing it.
Can you see that Market forces are not being allowed to Govern? As if they every did.
There is no true free market while the government is involved.
This is in effect a tax cut for the better off paid for by the vanishing middle class.
I don't see it that way, the "better off paid" already pay far more than
their fair share of taxes based on the services they use.
