We live in a country where there are plenty of jobs - many employers can't get staff. We live in a country where there is generous social welfare. Yet people are still begging. Why? Because there are well meaning idiots out there giving them money. The
cops are correct - people should not give them money and instead should support
places like City Mission with their charity.
If someone can make a living from begging then I can't blame them. What I cannot abide is where they are also taking social welfare and not paying tax in
their income.
