• John Key to resign on 12 Dec!

From JohnO@3:770/3 to All on Sunday, December 04, 2016 16:05:32
Doesn't want to do a 4th term, Bronagh asked him to leave it:

    http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/politics/87202756/new-zealand-government-makes-major-announcement

Well unlike the meaningless Mt Roskill by-election, this is obviously very significant as we now get to see how Labour goes when their not throwing themselves against the John Key wall every day.

Two things come to mind here:
    1) It means Nats can now raise retirement age (if they want to)
    2) Removes an obstacle to working with Winston

We've been extremely lucky to have him as PM for 8 years. Fortunately
there's a few to choose from. e.g. Amy Adams

It good to have a political party that's sane enough to leave many capable
and coherent leaders to step up to the top job. Parties that cannot do this tend to have an atmosphere of backstabbing, coercion and dishonesty.

This is very much as I see things. Things are just sloshing along. Donald
Trump has said lets try something else. So he did and the media couldnot
reprt things as they saw it. After all how could Donald win? Yeah right!

When Labour do find traction national will not be prepared. It is rather
like being in a earthquake zone, no movement all relaxed and then rattle,
    bang and roll.

I think the whole country is a bit relaxed. Donald might help us fix that as well as America.

At the end of the day it is in the hands of the Labour party. Whaetever tha media say the Labour party will sink or swim by it's own actions and policies. It is that simple.

I don't think so. He has led a government that managed the toughest financial threat this country (and the world) has faced in decades rather well. He has faced the Christchurch earthquake challenges as well as anybody could have despite the vitriolic and childish complaints about Brownlee and others. And he has managed 8 years of government without any serious internal dicipline issues (oh yes, some minor ones but nothing very serious). And to win elections is absolutely one of the jobs of leaders (where did that bit of stupidity come from?).
To suggest he leaves no legacy is childish and spiteful, even Andrew Little has acknowledged that John Key has done a good job.
