Not that many would see us through "the Daily Beast". Although I do see the Clinton family is donkey deep in this outfit so hardly the impartial source of current affairs most people would use.

What's your point? Either I'm missing something or you're deranged.

Saw two reports from USA and BBC within 20 minutes of the quake. Both
gave a better slant. Only duff report I've seen is one from New York
times reporting that the floods were caused by the quakes:)
On reports notice that after a good start liddle Andy's got on the
political bandwagon with Winston demanding new laws for looters. As
though we haven't got enough laws covering that sort of behaviour
already. Funny how much Rich sounds like those two losers.

It was the first picture of a prime minister making an announcement - presumably about New Zealand) that will have amused many. It is clear
that photo ops do not make up for sycophantic crawling - I cannot
imagine Helen Clarke being mistaken by an Australian . . .

No, but she might be mistaken for a wildebeest.

But your comment, like yourself, was irrelevant and stupid. Nobody in the
article was being mistaken by an Australian. What *was* your point again?

There is absolutely no mention of Australia in the article

The bit that gets me is all these newish buildings with their earthquake

It is a bit surprising. However I think the standard required is that buildings
be survivable for the occupants. The building itself doesn't need to be viable.
None of the buildings so far have failed in a way that would have killed the occupants have
they? Even the Stats building which was misreported has having a pancaked floor.

Buildings don't seem to have fallen like America's twin towers did, straight down.
Wellington sits on an earthquake fault. Modern buildings would be designed
for this. It is the unsuspected faults that are the danger.
The Beehive seems to have escaped damage.
