Our Team

At Auckland Council, our Marketing and Publicity team deliver
marketing and communication activity to ensure projects, products or
services are successful.

We're responsible for making sure the council speaks with one voice
and we reach Aucklanders about what matters to them.

We deliver communication and marketing plans to support objectives,
keeping in line with council policies and operational priorities and
driving trust and confidence in council with Aucklanders.

To help us on our journey, we are looking for experienced
Communications and PR Specialist with a nose for news and
understanding of business and commerce to join us!

The Opportunity

You will be a member of a highly skilled communications team helping
to respond to our rapidly growing city.

The Auckland Plan will guide Auckland's future over the next 30 years.
It's come together over 4 years, with over 34,000 contributions from Aucklanders and 23 independent experts. The plan will tackle issues
such as reducing transport and housing shortages, giving children and
young people a better start, creating more jobs and protecting our
environment.

As the Communications and PR Specialist, you will tell those stories,
build the relationships with your internal business partners and
colleagues and show that Auckland Council has the systems, processes
and capabilities to deliver the plan and earn the trust and confidence
of Aucklanders.

Your Skills and Experience

You will be a skilled communicator, with very strong writing skills, a
passion for finding the news, media management experience and an
ability to form strong relationships within the organisation.

You will bring a background in communications or PR with at least five
years' experience working with commercial enterprises and a proven understanding of what business clients need and expect.

This is a fast-paced and exciting role. You will need to have tenacity
and enthusiasm to succeed. We need creative and innovative solutions,
and someone who copes well under pressure. You will have proven
initiative, drive and resilience, be able to work to tight deadlines,
and balance competing priorities. Experience of working in a large and
diverse team is highly desirable.
