Refer to table 4, section 1:I live in an area that has a very diverse mix of people and some of the schools and one college are low decile. There are a large number of people living here that you might expect to be poor, The largest employer is a Maori organisation with a nationally recognised and thoroughly deserved reputation for excellence. I am heavily involved in the community and I see no evidence at all of people without adequate living arrangements. Yes we have a food bank and they are very busy at times but we do not have people living in cold houses or in cars or anything else like that. I would expect to see it here if it was a prominent issue.

Living without habitable accommodation due to a lack of access to minimally >adequate housing:
2001: 1,296
2006: 5,031
2013: 4,197
These are the *homeless* numbers.
The category that has grown is:
Living as a temporary resident in a severely crowded, permanent private >dwelling due to a lack of access to minimally adequate housing
2001: 28,917
2006: 33,946
2013: 41,207
Those people are *not* homeless. That number has grown by some 7,000 against >general population growth. 2006 was 0.8% of population and 2013 was 0.9% - >hardly a catastrophic rise given the GFC and the population growth against >stubborn non growth in land supply for housing.
In other words, the "homelessness crisis" is a beatup - unless you accept >there was a greater "crisis" under Labour. Just the facts, ma'am.
No surprises here.
