    A bit of a gamble given that based on the 2014 General Election
    results Mallard would have to be 5th or higher on the list to be in
    Parliament. Reading between the lines:

    - it is credible to infer that Mallard is ready to retire as an
    electorate MP.
    - Mallard would instead prefer to be a list MP with Speaker's
    responsibilities with the possibility of achieving neither.

    so he's trying to keep his snout in the trough...
    At Liebors current polling I doubt they'll have any list members
