Dunne is an old man - unable to make up his mind, confused and
bewildered, and consistent in his lack of consistency.

This is a decision that should have been easily made the other way,

What is this to do with Peter Dunne? There is no mention of him. This
is about Helen Kelly and the Ministry of Health. The MOH has not
granted the permission sought because of 'insufficient information'.
There is no mention of Dunne being involved.

I support Helen Kelly and I hope she continues the battle.

So when is the government going to take the first step to sort this
    situation out ?
Its no problem for other jurisdictions yet it seems to be framed as a
series of insurmountable obstacles every time Dunne opens his mouth.
Shit or get off the pot Dunne !!!

I have now seen another report on this case, with additional
information. It is both better and worse tan initially portrayed. It
seems that Dunne and his Ministry have decided on some creiteria for information that should be provided that is additional to legal
requirements - fair enough for some, but others appear likely to just
make it harder for anyone to get a decision - whether favourable or
not! Beaurocracy is said to e the last refuge of a scoundrel . . .

Rich you are correct in respect of Dunne's involvement - I don't know
how I missed this. I would expect that the MOH should have specified
exactly what deficiency there was in the data supporting the
application. Its possible that Dunne deferred the application pending
more information being provided by Kelly and/or her doctor to the MOH.
I hope this is still a work in progress.

Lastly I would expect the Minister of Health (Jonathan Coleman) - not
his associate - would take any directive action.

yourself is better than making a hard decision that will incense some "key"supporters while not winning more votes from those that see that
approval should have been very quick. Perhaps Curia had not had time

I agree. Why on earth is Dunne involved? Coleman is the Minister of
Health and is therefore in cabinet and answerable accordingly. Dunne
is an associate Minister of Health and is outside cabinet.

One possible explanation is that if the application was made and
deferred on January 29 Coleman was still on leave and Dunne was not.
If so when will Coleman be back on deck?

Latest report is they're waiting on more information from Kelly's
    oncologist. Same article http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/health/76900933/former-union-boss-given-two-months-to-live--nearly-a-year-ago
says they've had 120 applications of which 100 have been approved. Kellys
also been offered a drug that she doesn't think will suit her. Rather
curious that she hasn't tried it to find out wether it does or not.

Even though I despise her politics I hope everything turns out right for
    her.
