• Time for the government to !!!!

From Tony @3:770/3 to All on Friday, June 03, 2016 00:31:22
I keep hearing more and more often that the government should do this or the government should do that. This has been a creeping trend for many years.
One of the most incidious of the presumptuous are local councils - mine is one of them and so is Auckland!
Why should the government bail the Auckland council out of its self inflicted housing problems. The toy train took precedence over land availability and the council are always asking government to help them - particularly when they have fouled their own nest.
    Appoint commissioners I say!
Oh by the way Rich - this is nothing to do with politics so please control yourslef before you have an embarrassment!

So a decision to sell state houses is not political?
A decision to appoint commissioners is not political?
A decision to fundadequate transport in an increasingly grid-locked
    city is not political?
A desire to see appropriate infrastructure before large housing
developments are added is not political?
AS refusal by government to not fund highways and rail which is their responsibility is not political?

    Dream on, Tony

Irre;evant to my point but probably governance.

You are the dreamer, believing that your precious party has a modicum of competence.

And read this as an example of impartial comment from a journalist: >http://pundit.co.nz/content/national-stuck-in-release-land-mantra
You have entirely missed the point of me saying it is not political, no doubt deliberately, I was simply stating that my post had nothing to do with politicis.
The facts are clear - the Auckland infrastructure is abysmal and the council own that.
The council, probably all councils, want as much independance as they can get and yet they want government to step in when things get tough - well that's OK and the government need to decide how to do that - commissioners are one of their options in this case.
    Now do you follow?

So how come it has nothing to do with politics?

Auckland Council and the Government are made up of politicans. Nothing but politics I would argue.
