You are correct, Rich in that Winnie, as deputy PM is the acting PM in Jacindas absence. If Winston does anything that Jacinda and Labour do
not approve of then what?
There are several scenarios to that picture and the Greens and
National will enjoy all of them but Labour will have some quite
unpalatable choices, all of which involve dissolution of Parliament.
Winnie is an expert at self-preservation and will only piss off Labour
while he is acting-PM if he wants to fight another election or is too
stupid to understand the consequences, both of which seem quite
unlikely. Winnie as acting-PM is the statesman/figurehead - not a
nightmare.
