• I'm voting for a change of flag.

From Fred@3:770/3 to All on Thursday, March 03, 2016 11:53:10
It's high time we boosted our image and dropped the current flag which
suggests to most of the world that we are a small Australasian island.
We are of course, but we're also an independent country and here's our
    chance to boost that image.

Ditto. I'm voting to change as well.. If we don't do it now it won't
be done in my lifetime ..

Despite being less than enthused by the new design, I'm also voting change. It's better than sticking with the old.

This is the last chance - nobody will touch this with a barge pole ever again the way it has been politicised.

You are right, but it looks like we might be stuck with the old bloody rag.

We need a flag that is 99% Australian

There are only a couple of Dominions left with the Union Jack in their
    flag.
And that 5th star can be difficult to see in any sort of a blow

Real problem is that is has not. Poltics is about people, and they have
yawned at the options which have been presented.

I doubt it will be the last chance, but it has been made more
difficult by being botched this time. There has however been enough
interest generated that we are likely to see further possible designs
put forward, and once one design gains a fair biof support, it may be
adopted as an option for the official flag in limited circumstances,
in much the same way that our National Anthem ha been delicately
changed - some groups still always sing God Save the Queen, and some
sing all verses of the cringingly worded God Defend New Zealand!

I hope it finally puts paid to any referendums being held other than
in conjunction with other elections, unless the issue if of very high importance, which this one wasn't.

I will vote for the current flag, because I dislike the white feather alternative, but I know others who like it and will vote for it. How
we came to get to this stage has nothing to do with that decision; but
like many I will be glad to have the referendum over and a decision
    made.

It has not been "delicately changed" we have two official national anthems, approved by the Queen as she has for a number of other Commonwealth countries. All of us are free to use either or both as we choose.
