have resulted in a concert being cancelled receivig threats. The

New Zealand parties can belooked at on a left / right spectrum. The
scale is not absolute but relative - it is part of colloquial speech.

You will notice that relative to other parties, that chart puts ACT
and TOP to the far right, with National just to the left of those. It
would not be unreasonable to see Labour as centre-right, with National
as far-right from that chart.

The chart however does not cover other countries - we often compare
our parties to those in Australia, USA nad the UK. In reality the
Democrat party in the USA is probably to the right of National here,
with the Republicans currently across a wide range to the right of
them again. In USA terms, National would be far-left. So you have to
look in context. Individuals can have views that cover a larger
sprectrum than the simple dot on the charts of the Political Compass -
in some respects the spokesman for the Sensible Sentencing Trust for
example may be closer to the "far-right"views that George was putting >forward.
