me too... i wish they had more episodes to play with in a season as these short seasons are really only tasters compared to the main course (20 episodes per season) of old...

I'm loving it! My favorite stand-alone episode (so far) was S03-E20's
"Jose Chung's from Outer Space"
I love the double entendre of the title and even more the brilliant way
they exploited all the different perspectives of essentially the same
story.

The seasons of the old run I sort of viewed Scully as pant-suited
bureaucrat, sort of like Hillary Clinton.
After the movies, the short season, and now, I believe she's gotten
even more "fucky" with age. A lot going on with facial expressions
in this newly revised version of my favorite series of all time.
The truth is out there.

Yes.
Although they introduced two new characters that resemble them. My
cynical side tells me that Chris Carter wants to do a spinoff with them eventually.

That's what makes it even more great. They're both the original actors:
David Duchovny as Mulder, Gillian Anderson as Scully and also Mitch Pileggi as Skinner, with William B. Davis as "The Smoking Man".
You know when the show ended in the 90s it was basically over a real-life feud between Duchovny & Anderson. She kept winning Emmy's but he *knew* he was the reason for the show's success. Anderson was able to leverage her awards for bigger paychecks, but Duchovny didn't have the leverage so he gambled by playing coy for a season while Chris Carter wrote him out. As Duchovny faded out of the series, the ratings perportionatly tumbled and
the addition of Robert Patrick did not help with the ratings tumble. I
guess the show's producers weren't going to give in, so they let it cancel.
I enjoyed both the movies too, but I can see why some people were disappointed. The movies did not have the addictive qualities of the
series.
It was that tension between Muldar and Scully as well as them becoming intertwined in the mythology sub-plots that was the sublime attraction most viewers had for their addiction to the series.
In the 3 episode teaser/tickler (mini-series) they released last year they introduced a young couple, male & female apparent counterparts to Mulder
and Scully, but they haven't developed them yet. They showed enough of them to reveal that the counterparts each have personalities like their predecessors; however, it seems the female is more like Muldar and the male is more like Scully... we'll have to see how that shakes out... I might be over-thinking it. (*(^:
The "Conspiracy" or "Mythology" sub-plot has been updated, but it's not completely revealed yet. The tension between Muldar & Scully has matured
and is very evident deep in the storyline, but it's not overbearing or the predominant element of the overall plot (so far). It develops in bits and pieces in each progressive episode.
Like I say, I'm as hooked as I was from the very first episode when I was a kid.
I know you guys will enjoy when it finally comes to your neck of the woods.
I wish someone would upload DivX or MP4 rips of the entire series from the beginning in the binary group, because this is one of those stories that I believe will stand the test of time - perhaps into the next century.
