Hi,
Are there other shows that a true X-Files fan would enjoy? I tried Fringe
and The Outer Limits, but it's just not the same, they didn't pull me in
the way X-Files did. Anything else?
For me, the innovative element that made 'The X-Files' unique was the underlying mythology plot continuum (the conspiracy) and the complex
twisting transitional sub-plots (sexual tension between Mulder and Scully; Scully's abduction; Cigarette Smoking Man; The Lone Gunmen involvement; Skinner's ambiguousness... etc.).
NBC's 'The Black List' follows a similar formula... due in large part to
the strength of the character development. It's nail-biting action and
drama series with unexpected and interesting plot twists... which are still unfolding. Worth a look.
I also see similarities in some of the cable networks' limited series, such
as 'Rouge', 'Deep State', the 'Strike Back' franchise, and 'Berlin
Station'... without the science fiction theme.
If you don't subscribe to certain cable or video services, many of these
can be obtained on IRC channels... but that's a whole 'nother conversation.
Hope this helps. Good luck.
