• Notes for ZABF15 (The Seven Beer Itch)

I'm not sure why this Lily lady is supposed to be so vivacious and notorious and desireable, but all right, I guess. The main story didn't do a whole lot for me, either the general temptation plot or how it was set up, but it wasn't awful. (I know she's
hot right now but I really know Olivia Colman best from Look Around You.) Stuff at the Vineyard was decent.

    DYN:
...Marge is suddenly driving a Jeep upon arrival at the vacation town (with no explanation), although the sign says "SUVs only" (have Jeeps been retro-classified that way)?
...Homer has a photo of the 1987-look Simpsons on his phone?
...one banner held by the visions of Marge says "loved her forever" (why not love - is it meant to be perfect tense)?
...act 3 fades out, a very rare thing for this show?

    Previous episode stuff
2F09: "No Homers" specified by Marge's aunt

    So much for the pattern
New Carl is here tonight, although the production code (ZABF15) is very low, and 17 and 18 both used older voice casting. Huh.

    Compression alert
I was shocked to learn that last week's debut airing of Treehouse of Horror XXXI (ZABF17) was compressed by over half a minute to fit into 21 minutes of actual Fox network airtime. Or at least it was here. Maybe everything was sped up since football ran
long, but hitting that precise mark makes me suspicious. (I haven't done the math on the night's other offerings.) Fortunately, tonight's NEW episode did not seem to suffer the same fate, but I guess I'm going to be on the lookout now! And tonight's
rerun (ZABF19) was also compressed to... you guessed it... 21. Just like one I mentioned a few weeks ago. Not a happy sign.
