Yesterday at the local Target I saw a DVD set of the 18th season.
The bad news is it cost $35. I hope the price will come down.

I saw that too, also at a Target. It was in a "regular" box (not one
of the plastic character head cases they'd been using).

I thought they'd stop putting out seasons on DVD. I doubt I'll buy
season 18, because at some point I realized I was buying the sets,
watching them once and then they just sat on a shelf taking up space
    and gathering dust.

Too much good new stuff piling up on the DVR to watch an entire "eh"
    season of the Simpsons.

I won't disagree the later seasons are more eh vs. the past seasons. Especially
up to sometime around season 11-14 when at least once in a while there were good episodes, but that of course the episode quality didn't compare to the first 10 seasons.
Still, I'm glad they are releasing the Simpsons seasons on DVD and BR again, since there are occasional good episodes among those later seasons. If South Park's later seasons still get DVD releases, it's only fair to also see them for The Simpsons.

    The "m" was silent.
