    1. John Wayne Gacy – the granddaddy of bad clowns
    In the 1970s, a character calling himself Pogo the Clown was a popular attraction at community events in Cook County, Illinois. Meanwhile, young men keep going missing … The killer was John Wayne Gacy, who strangles to death 34 victims before the law
    catches up with him. He doesn’t wear the clown outfit when he kills, but his alter-ego of Pogo forever shifts the image of the clown in popular consciousness.

    2. Balloons and a bullet
    On May 26, 1990 in Wellington, Florida, Marlene Warren opened her door to a find a bulb-nosed clown holding a bouquet of flowers and two balloons. The clown shot her in the face, and she died at the hospital two days later. Warren’s teenage son saw the
    clown run to a car and escape. The killer escaped justice until September 2017,
    when police arrested a woman who was said to be having an affair with Warren's husband and, years after the killing, married him.

    In 1994, a gang of clowns went on a sick rampage in India. On separate occasions the clowns held down seven people and gouged out their eyes. Each attack happened in a different rural villages. Police never caught the eye-gouging clowns. But they did
    find their hideout, a warehouse scattered with clown costumes and pictures of the human eye.

    Francisco Felix was a Mexican drug lord who headed the powerful Tijuana Cartel.
    In October 2013, he was celebrating his birthday at a party in Cabo San Lucas when he was approached by man a in a clown suit. Everyone, Felix included, thought this was part
    of the party entertainment – until the clown pulled a gun and shot him five times in the head. RIP Francisco Felix.

    In May 2017, a bald, bespectacled man fronted a court in Nova Scotia, Canada. He is Dale Raincourt, aka Klutzy the Clown. He pleaded guilty to the sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl over a six week period. The judge jailed him for two years and banned
    him from ever working as a children’s entertainer again.
