And, to my sorrow, I checked just now, and Ruth Chew - remember her? She wrote mainly witch stories for kids aged 8 and younger - STILL has only one entry in SATA, from 1975, even though she wrote two-thirds of her books after that date! No mention
even of her death in 2010!

She wrote 32 books, I think, and illustrated other writers' books.

Her fast-paced book "No Such Thing as a Witch" is fun, though the
description on the back scared me away from reading it for a while:

"Watch out for Maggie Brown—the new next-door neighbor! And beware of Maggie's homemade fudge!
Maggie is NOT an ordinary person.
Her fudge is NOT ordinary fudge.
One piece of the fudge makes you love animals.
If you eat two pieces of fudge you will understand animal language.
Three pieces make you act like an animal.
And if you eat four pieces… HELP!"

He had four entries in the Something About the Author encyclopedias, plus an entry in vol. 24 of the Children's Literature Review encyclopedias.

(To give you an idea of how that works, both Maurice Sendak and Dr. Seuss had five entries each in SATA - including their obituaries - and one entry each in CLR. As a rule, only the cream of the crop get mentioned at ALL in CLR. However, SATA is not so
logical; it's common for the not-so-famous writers/illustrators to get at least three entries, while some popular or critically acclaimed people never get mentioned at all. Especially those who may have been well-known and loved around the world, but not
so much in English-speaking nations, such as the Argentine cartoonist Quino, creator of "Mafalda," which has been described as "Doonesbury meets Peanuts in Buenos Aires.")
