Not strictly horror, but definitely a cult film. Caught this Bava
classic on Film 4 (I think) the other night.

Essentially a story about a criminal mastermind, who manages to outwit
the cops at every turn, stealing millions from banks and the goverment, presumably to pay for the upkeep of his secret, hi-tech underground lair.

Clearly Bava had taken a few nods from James Bond, given all the hi-tech gadgetry on display, including a scene which predates a similar scene in
A View to a Kill, in which someone gets dumped out of a trapdoor in an
aircraft mid-flight. Indeed, one of the films bad guys, a Mafia boss who colludes with the police to help catch Diabolik, was played by Adolfo
Celi, who had previously appeared as Bond Villain in Thunderball.

Anyway, its quite good fun, if not a tad far fetched. Was surprised to
see comedy actor Terry Thomas in this.
