A real missed opportunity. It's a fun film, but could have been so much
more.
Two kids, Luke and his annoying (and I mean ANNOYING) sister Mimi
inadvertently release the universe's most powerful and destructive being
who has been imprisoned on Earth for aeons. Unfortunately for him, the
source of his power is an amulet that is now in Mimi's hands and he is compelled to obey the command of whomever possesses it. Mimi quickly
realises the potential and plans to have fun with her new friend/toy. She decides to name him "Psycho Goreman" due to the bloody mess he made of
some previous individuals. Meanwhile, news of his escape reaches across
space to those who imprisoned him and they are on their way to deal with
the situation.
The character of PG is great and the reason for the film's main success -
his deep, demonic voice and constant over-dramatic exclamations of
destruction and his groans of frustration as his threats of ultraviolence
are simply dismissed or outright ignored by Mimi.
The film's weak points are Mimi herself, who is just too much, the
unfocused storyline and the uneven humour - sometimes just getting too
silly.
Overall, I still recommend it.
