At last, something new, a Brazilian horror series. 30 seconds later:
Adaptado da minisserie "Dead Set" criada por Charlie Booker. Oh well.

This one's actually ten episodes, the first five pretty much a shot-for-shot remake of DEAD SET, with only the smallest of changes because Brazil. In
the original a production assistant walks in on key characters snogging and scolds them. Here, of course, she joins in.

DEAD SET's external subplot about the boyfriend trying to get to the set is binned (no great loss) and replaced with the survival efforts of a dodgy politician and pals, which sets up the second five episodes.

Have to say I preferred this to the original. Casting seemed a bit more natural and for example the odious reality TV producer while still horrible is a
bit less cartoonish here and has a more believable arc. Also the second
half nullifies one of my complaints about the original - that it never really does anything with the Big Brother concept.

Like the original the short running time is a bonus. Feel free to start at episode 6 if you've already seen the first one. You'll catch up pretty quick.

I too checked this out streaming on Netflix thinking it was a new zombie
series only to realise it is a remake when Brooker's name appeared in
    the opening credits.

DEAD SET does what it does better, but I did enjoy the additional
episodes of REALITY Z dealing with the politician who comes to stay at
    the house.

I was on the edge of my seat in the last couple of episodes which is pretty rare in zombie movies these days. It's pretty cynical - they did a good job finding the Brazilian Charlie Brooker to make it.
