    Tremors: Shrieker Island (2020)

    Dir: Don Michael Paul
    Wir: Brian Brightly

Hunter extraordinaire Bill (Richard Brake, Doom-Head in Rob Zombie’s 31)
has teamed up with mega corporation Avex-Bio to turn the Thai Dark
Island into an exclusive hunting resort for the mega wealthy. Their
prey? Graboids. This being a horror film the expected does happen. The
graboids turn the tables on the hunters and pick them off one by one.
Doubling down on the danger, the graboids start pushing out their
    monstrous offspring, shriekers.

Sensing that something is wrong, the head researcher on a neighboring
island Jas (Caroline Langrishe, a British television stalwart) and her
work mate Jimmy (Jon Heder, Napoleon from NAPOLEON DYNAMITE)
investigate. Upon finding the carcass of a dead graboid, Jas realises
the danger her team is in and sends Jimmy to Papua New Guinea. There he
finds a retired bearded and long haired Burt Gummer (Michael Gross)
living off grubs and fish. At first reluctant to once more battle
graboids, Burt does answer the call to arms. The duo arrive back just in
time to rally the remaining researchers and set up defenses against the
    coming graboid onslaught.

This is the seventh film in the TREMORS comedy horror monster franchise.
A franchise that also included a short lived television series. There’s
not much left in the series to make us laugh or get us to sit on the
edge of our seats. Michael Gross portrays survivalist Burt Gummer well,
as expected and is often the highlight of the series after the second
entry. Jackie Cruz (ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK) gives a high energy
performances as a researcher who also knows a thing or two about
firearms and explosives. The Thai scenery is gorgeous. But none of that
is enough for the film to attain the cinematic fun of the first two
films. Director Don Michael Paul directed entries five through seven and
this may be the best of that lot.

Fans of the franchise will certainly find some entertainment here, and
perhaps watery eyes during the ending, but this film isn’t going to reinvigorate a series that is just getting by on the fond memories from
    thirty years ago.

They made SEVEN of these, AND a tv series? Maybe next the graboids will
eat the children of the corn and finally kill both "franchises".

Seriously, how did a sixth Tremors movie (and a tv show) bring in enough revenue to encourage them to make a seventh? Me no understand.

You should at least check out the second film. It stars Fred Ward and
comes close to capturing the monster movie fun of the first.
