A half-decent low-budget British horror film, let down by the not very
funny comedy elements in the early parts and SOME of the performances. I wasn't particularly excited about another film featuring a group of blokes lost in the wilderness together, but as it stars Rafe Spall and was set in Scandinavia (No, I'm not bored of the Nordic Noir yet) I thought it
couldn't be all bad. It's a pity the other actors weren't anywhere close to being in Spall's acting league, and it's even more of a pity that the badly judged humour detracted from the sense of fear that builds up quite nicely throughout the film. I'm not sure that the flashbacks to the friend's
murder were necessary either, they were just another distraction if
anything and seemed to be tacked on to try and add a bit more depth, WHICH THEY DIDN'T. Paid ï½£9.99 for this cunt on Amazon Video, but I'm sure I'll watch it a few more times, so it was probably worth it.

I liked it, even though it seemed like the writer started off with oneCLOVERFIELD
story, changed his mind and then went off in a different direction.

See, that one has an intriguing premise but terrible reviews. If I watch
it and it's shit, YOU ARE DEAD.
and HELLRAISER: JUDGEMENT.
The last Hellraiser I watched was Hellraiser 3. Has any good ever come
from watching a film series beyond the third installment? (apart from
Rocky of course)

I can't understand how anyone can defend HELLRAISER:JUDGMENT. Cheaply
made so that Dimension films can hang onto the property, cliche
cardboard characters, and the scenes with the auditor and assessor meant
to shock were stupid. It was a drag to make it through the entire film.

I enjoyed the film. It's available via Netflix streaming in the U.S.
In regards to the friend's murder it is an important plot point to the character arc of the protagonist. I'm intentionally being a bit vague
to avoid spoilers. Without touches like that, THE RITUAL would have
been just another people lost in the woods being stalked film.

The story is inconsistent and one scene in particular is stupendously ridiculous. However, I still liked it.

I finally got round to watching this. Bizarrely, for a British Netlfix
film it isn't available on Netflix in Britain, but is streaming for
free on Amazon Prime here. What the fuck's that about?
Anyway, "half decent", MY ARSE. It's dismal. It's basically the
"WOLVES DID IT!" sketch from The League of Gentlemen padded out to an
hour an a half. The fucker has no idea what it's about, what its meant
to do with the characters, the set up or the locations (fucking
Romania - want to set a horror movie there? Send Rafe Spall and his
mates into a PIKEY CAMP.)
Bears may or may nor shit in the forest, but this turkey does.
TOILET.

Sorry to resurrect this thread.
Yeah, half decent film, all a bit DESCENT in set-up if not execution. Agreed the flashbacks ended up a bit irrelevant. The set-up was that in some way our hero was going to have to revisit his actions - like literally revisit
actions - the supermarket was in the fucking forest - and then he didn't. I think they just forgot.
I took it to be a bit of misdirection. If you think about it too much, it'sa
cheap trick that lacks consistency but it did throw me off the trail pretty well.
