• Friday The 13th Part V: A New Beginning Re Assessed (spoilers)

From Beaver_Fever@live.com@1:229/2 to All on Monday, August 03, 2020 15:49:14
OK so I originally hated this movie because in the end it was revealed the killer wasn't really Jason.

But watching it again decades later, it seems to have held up really well. And the actor portraying Tommy Jarvis creates a multi-dimensional character unlike the whining and bleating Tommy in Jason Lives.

Strong plot and some pretty decent kill scenes.

    Please discuss.

I watched that sixteen hour (or so it seemed) documentary about the F13
films and my only response was to ponder how the same repetitive crap kept getting pumped out over and over again. Paramount had no fucking shame. And fuck me dead the audience for it was easily pleased.

I didn't hate the film when I first saw the film in the theatre, but I
was surprised that Jason was not the killer. Other than that and I think
there is a goofy, FX loving character who plays pranks on the others,
    the film is rather forgettable.

On a related note, Scream Factory will be releasing all the F13 films
    this October in one collection.

More than likely I'll be picking it up.

I've never watched a FRIDAY THE 13TH FILM, nor a NIGHTMARE ON ELM ST and thought I'd kill both birds with one stone and watch JASON vs FREDDY.

    Lasted about 90 secs.

The dance scene still holds up... and the opening kill with the axe is
pretty fantastic. I love this one as a campy piece of shit.

I'm just listening to the NOES soundtrack and it makes me feel GOOD. Not as good as Gremlins just did, mind.

While the series certainly isn't great cinema there is entertainment to
be had by many of the entries.

FREDDY VS JASON is a fun film. Director Ronny Yu brings his own touch to
the series and I liked how the film hearkened back to the days of the
    classic monster match ups.

I always liked it, sure not as good as Part 4, but as far as films
featuring a hockey masked killer slaughtering teens goes, it was
    entertaining enough.

Friday The 13th Part VI: Jason Lives is a great movie on it's own merits.
