Yeah, the plot itself is barely plausible but I see it more like Homer's Oddysey through the WW1 landscape. The war is the 2nd most destructive in history and though it came at the dawn of the movie age, it's very poorly represented in film.
They Shall Not Grow Old is also highly recommended, especially on the big screen and in 3D.
