As always, here's my annual rundown of horror films that struck a
particular chord with me over the last 12 months.

    https://youtu.be/GV281a5EbME

Not really a top 10, as the figure varies each year (last year had 11
    titles) it's a top 8 this year.

Of your list I had only seen three of the titles, Underworld, Get Out
and The Void.Get Out and The Void are both good but nothing I raved
about to others. I don't know if 2017 was a weak year for excellent
horror films but I can't think of any must see titles.

I hadn't heard of What We Become previously but as it sounded
entertaining I gave it a spin via Netflix streaming. Good, solid zombie
film. Although, the zombies don't really turn up until the end. It's more
of a thriller until the last couple of reels.

Below are a few genre titles from last year not mentioned on your list
that I think are worth watching.

    Colossal
    Jungle
    It Stains the Sands Red
    It Comes at Night
    Black Butterfly
    The Belko Experiment
    Life
    Split
    Here Alone

    This was my Top 10:

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 (2017, USA)

ATAÚD BLANCO: EL JUEGO DIABÓLICO (2016, Argentina)
    DEMONS (1971, Japan)
    THE JUNGLE BOOK (2016, USA)
    A BITTERSWEET LIFE (2005, Korea)
    MONSTER (2014, Korea)

QUE DIOS NOS PERDONE (2016, Spain)
    SHIN GODZILLA (2016, Japan)

    HONOURABLE MENTIONS
    ===================

    MIDDLE MAN (2016, USA)
    DIG TWO GRAVES (2014, USA)

Of those, the only one I've seen is Life and to be honest, wasn't that impressed. A half-arsed knock off of Alien and not as entertaining.

Had heard bad things about Belko Experiment, but want to give it a go.
If it comes on Netflix I'll give it the once over.

Only one of those I've seen is Jeeg Robot. Whilst I did like it, was a
little disturbed over the sex scene between him and the young girl,
especially considering she was supposed to be about 14/15 or something?
What the hell was all that about?

Only one of those I saw was 68 Kill, which again I enjoyed overall, but
lost points because of what happened to the second female protagonist,
which was a downer, plus it was never explained how those rednecks
managed to drug him and make off with his loot?

    Major plot hole right there.

Shin Godzilla was excellent. Best Godzilla movie maybe since the original.
    They made Godzilla scary again.

BELKO is similar in theme to MAYHEM. Both are anti-corporate and revolve
around office workers trapped in a skyscraper with the death count
ticking up. I do wonder if they both were influenced by HIGH-RISE.

I loved Split and am astounded that M. Night Shamalamadingdong
had another good film in him this late in the game. Xing my fingers now
that he's got at least one more good one up his sleeve.

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed SPLIT. A big part of that was no
doubt due to James McAvoy's stellar performance.

SPLIT made my list of the worst films of the year. McAvoy's performance
was excellent, but the plot struggled - and the less said about the
    climax, the better.

Am i the only one who thought McAvoy's performance was a average at
best? Not his fault, hard to make the old cliche MPD routine look like
anything more than an awkward acting school exercise, but the amount of
love thrown at him has me very confused. Mrs Vorhees talking to herself
as Jason at the end of F13th, basically.

She wasn't young - The actress who played her is over 30. The character
was supposed to be in her early 20s.
