    I remember old Father Merrin (Mike Sutton RIP) being very fiercely
    defensive of the film.

    I read somewhere it was supposed to be about the conflict between
    science and deeply held beliefs, but instead was just a confusing
    mish-mash of different ideas slung togethor.

    I think the best review I read said something like "Linda Blair is still possessed, whilst Richard Burton does his worst to save her".

    Don't have too many of those round our way, our town is plagued with
    Eastern Europeans. We had a family of Romanians living a few doors down,
    they looked like bloody gypos from out of the 1940s

    Seems they've recently moved out, took an army of cleaners and
    decorators to put that place back togethor again. Dread to think the
    state they left it in.
