Just been watching this on Sky's catch-up service.
I remember this incident being on the news during my school days, didn't realise just how bad it really was, how close to wiping out most of
Eastern Europe they came and just how much human sacrifice was involved.
Very bleak stuff, first couple of eps are about dealing with the
immediate aftermath, 3 & 4 about how they attempted to clean the mess in
the months that followed and the final ep is about the trial of the
plants directors, showing in flahsbacks what went wrong.
OK, not horror, but certainly grim and very compelling viewing. The
scenes of fire fighters and other emergency service personell who first attended what they thought was just a building fire, collapsing with
horrific radiation burns, and being loaded into ambulances by people who
are throwing up everywhere and in a similarly bad state was certainly harrowing stuff. As were the scenes in the hospital, who simply couldn't
cope with the onslaught.

Supreme fucking NUCLEAR NOSTALGIA. Just settling down to the final
episode
You mean exclamatory punctuations.....not apostrophes!!!
Take an Excedrine or a Mydol and lue back and dream of rising commas,
baby!!!
Grim is the operative word here. Simon's right!! We were not clise to realizing at the time the enormity of this horror!!
The self sacrificing coal miners who had to dig under the still
burning plant to help contain the disastsr is especially poignant.
Simon sums it up perfectly!!
CHRIS FUCKING FINCH though?
