Vince Vaughn plays a former drug runner, who is forced back into his
criminal ways in order to support his wife and their forthcoming child
    after falling on hard times.

Unfortunately, when a drug pick-up with some Columbian dealers goes awry
he finds himself looking at a 7 year stretch inside. To compound
matters, the columbians want some for of repayment for the loss of
drugs, so threaten his wife with all sorts of unpleasantries if he
doesn't do a job for them whilst he's on the inside.

There's a convict in a maximum security wing, called Cell Block 99, they
want dead. Either he finds a way to get him self transferred there and
kill this guy, or bad things will happen.

So Vince duly goes around beating up guards and starting fights with
other convicts in order to get moved to this infamous wing. But it seems there's another reason they want him in Cell Block 99 and "repayment" to
the cartels isn't going to be as straightforward as he thought.

Bit of a slow burner, overall I liked it, quite brutal in places. But
clocking in at just over 2 hours, seemed painfully slow. Had they
tightened the pace and got the runtime down to around 90mins this would
have been a much better film.

Had a surprisingly good cast for what was obviously a low budget indie thriller, which included Jennifer Carpenter, Don Johnson and even horror veteran Udo Kier.

Worth a watch, but like I said, it's a bit of a slowie.

I liked them both, especially Bone Tomahawk. Great performance by Kurt
Russell et al. Vince Vaughn was at his best in Cell Block 99.

Kier had such a great part in this. He's totally evil, yet somehow likable anyway. He's a guy who's just doing his job.
