It passed the time, but was pretty stupid. The psychiatrist couldn't

You don't watch one of these films for the intelligence. The psychiatrist
was very obviously suspicious but I still didn't guess what her deal was.

I didn't like SPLIT much either, apart from McAvoy's performance. I
agree he was even better this time around. It was impressive the way
he was able to show which personality he was with a simple facial
expression or the way he stood, before he even spoke.

Especially his transformation into The Beast, I've never seen anything like

Especially his transformation into The Beast, I've never seen

I was trying to figure out how much of his transformation was CGI.
Veins appeared / disappeared so that's a given that it's CGI but he
also seemed to bulk up / down during the transformations. Where his
acting ability to trick the viewer ends and the CGI starts I can't
    say.

Same here. His nutritionist actually gets a screen credit, which
would seem to indicate that some of the bulk and musculature was him.
How much of the rest was prosthetics or CGI, and which was which, was difficult to determine.

You two are seriously overthinking this. Just put your hands down your
    pants and enjoy the show...

Learning how the gag was done is part of the fun.
