• Almost back to normal

From Simon T@1:229/2 to All on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 13:06:32
    From: darkangel5@REMOVETHISBITlineone.net

Feeling much better today (well, a bit anyway). Popped up to Tesco, very
quiet, got round and did my shopping in no time. No annoying xmas music
on the radio or in the shops.

Had a wander round town, seemed almost like normal.

The HMV store in our town re-opened the other month (which was a bit of
a surprise when they did that), so called in to spend the shopping
    vouchers I'd got over Xmas.

Bought a couple of Hammer Blu-Rays, "Horror of Frankenstein" and "Blood
    from the Mummy's Tomb".

Just watching them now whilst typing up a review of the new release of
Opera that's out in the new year.

If I can just get new years out the way, hopefully I should start
pulling out of this dark cloud.

real depression can be awful - my brother, married, 2 kids, nice house
gets it and he can't say why, finds himself obsessing over jobs he
didn't take when he was 18, ex girlfriends he stopped seeing, stupid
crap, can't see what he has, just obsesses over what he hasn't.
    there is help out there......

and if it's depression for genuine reasons, that's where you take steps
    to fix things.

Yes! Downgrading expectations is the best way to avoid disappointment.
That being said - 2019 IS gonna be hilarious.

...wait... what? As opposed to..? Don't fuck with me this week Gary you

Again.. What? Genuine? Real? What makes something genuine and real mate?
If you feel it, isn't that enough? Are you saying there needs to be a standardised government testing facility to prove the true depressives
    from the morrissey fans?

I also believe in heaven and hell. Hell is everyday life when you think

example 1..... your boss at work is being horrid and bullying to you and
making you dread going to work.

example 2.... your boss at work is great, so are your colleagues yet you
still feel as bad as example 1.

you could take steps with example 1.

Yeah but here's the problem with your diagram mate, people who are in
example 2 often feel like/are told they are in example 1 and vice versa.
People in horrible destructive relationships think they're just being unreasonable and stay, and people in lovely relationships think they're
being abused and leave. You can't draw a line in the sand on these
    issues sadly.

My concern is, when someone says 'im horribly depressed' and you reply
with 'well if it's genuine i feel for you' it will no doubt lead person
A to thinking 'maybe it's not genuine, maybe i'm just shit at being
shit... i can't even do depression right...' etc and cause more
unhappiness. It reeks too much of the Stiff Upper Lip, don't talk about
your problems, be a 'man' kinda routines - which i believe are the cause
of the obscene suicide rates of adult males in this generation.

All i'm saying is, if you're a millionare with a perfect life and you
feel depressed - or if you're a limbless beggar in a war torn nightmare
and you feel depressed - chances are you're depressed and neither are
    right or wrong.

The nature of and distinction between situational, exogenous depression
and melancholic, endogenous depression can be a huge challenge to
diagnose and treat. Just figuring out how one gets the way they are
can take more energy and drive than many can muster. Drugs sometimes
help, but often don't and can make things worse. What does help is to
    talk about it.

Also.. for the record mate, not to put too fine a point on it, but
blaming your poor decisions on drugs is pretty pissweak. Drugs will make
you shit/piss yourself, fall asleep in public, be unable to get a hard
cock, say dumb shit you regret, sell your favourite guitar, etc - but
they won't make you come to a conclusion you weren't already thinking

Do you even read what you write? You say drugs won't lead you to make
