This is fun. Mid-fifties black family living in Chicago has repeated run
-ins with white-bread cultists. It's structured as a series of short
stories, each giving a different member of the family - and a different Lovecrafty trope - the spotlight, with the stories working together to an overall narrative. Slightly tongue-in-cheek with the genre-savvy heroes tending
to work out what's going on pretty easily, and recognising the inherent ridiculousness of the Jim Crow era and protagonsists trying to battle forces beyond our understanding while not being able to safely drive interstate lest some redneck sheriff decides to shoot them.

HPL would hate it, which was of course the point.
