Holy fuck, this is amazing. They have blue bumblebees in the States? My
    mind is completely blown.

Some relatives of Heather Donahue (obviously the LA family branch because everybody looks like models) hook up with Chris Lilley and decide to go into the
Maryland woods for some reason or other. Cue all the shit things about BWP
and none of the likable ones (bar a 5 minute poor-mans-REC finale I kind
of enjoyed) and you get a pointless remake of a film that very much didn't
    need it. Whatever.

I didn't like it either. A sequel which is essentially a remake, updated
    for the digital age.

However, how does "Blair Witch 2 : Book of Shadows" fit into this?

PS, think I may have emailed this, rather than posting to the group,
first time I tried to send it. Still getting used to Thunderbird email
    client.

Never seen it but it's supposed to be different isn't it? Sounds like they
at least made *some* effort, even if it ended up crap.

It revolves around some Blair Witch fans visiting the filming locations
of the first movie, only to find there might actually be a real life Witch.

I'm assuming this new film is pretending Part 2 didn't happen.

Correct. I actually have a soft spot for all 3 of these films, and i'm
not entirely sure why. They all have awful characters spewing awful
dialogue, but in some guilty 90's Nine Inch Nails music video vibe i
find them quite entertaining. BLAIR WITCH (2016) was a damn sight better
than 99% of the found footage films of the last decade, and yes, i know
that's like ranking one's favourite forms of cancer, but we don't get a
whole lot more to choose from in the current cycle.

On a semi-related note, I actually refuse to review found-footage style
films on my website now, as pretty much every single one I've been asked
to review over the last few years has been complete and utter shite and
ended up fast forwarding through large segments made up of people sat
around talking/arguing just to pad the running time.

There hasn’t been a single one worth a shit other than CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST.

I've just watched the intentionally badly titled FOUND FOOTAGE 3D and
    it's not too bad:

Has anyone watched The Love Witch by the way? The reviews are good but if
it's just a load of jugs I can't be arsed.

I've had it here for ages, but haven't gotten around to it - It looks
like they've got the "retro" look spot on, but I can't comment on the
    story.

apparently the director gets very offended if anyone suggests she's
    doing a retro pastiche.
