  • Dismember The Alamo IV!!

    Caught Alamo Drafthouse Yonkers' annual Halloween horror movie marathon
    today. We saw, all on 35mm:

    THE PEOPLE UNDER THE STAIRS - This one was really fun to see with a crowd,
    on the big screen with great sound too. I was always always underwhelmed
    by this one and hadn't watched it in some time. Played great today and I
    loved it.

    SISTERS - "Staten Island? I thought you said you lived in New York." A classic. Great movie.

    MESSIAH OF EVIL - Never saw this before, even tho I own the DVD. Cool,
    weird, arty little zombie movie. Print had mostly gone to red and had a
    couple of rough splices, but the fact that they found a print at all was
    very impressive.

    MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE - YES!!!!!!! I love this fucking movie! Never saw it on
    the big screen before either. This made my night.

    SLUMBER PARTY MASSACRE - Well, 4 out of 5 ain't bad.

    Um, yeah, that's what I said. I'm not saying it's a good movie (has anyone ever claimed it was?), but man is it fun, especially with a crowd.

    What's wrong with SLUMBER PARTY MASSACRE? I really enjoy its take on the slasher genre, especially the 'girl power' undertones.

    It's poorly paced and has basically no non-annoying characters. The
    supposed feminist satire must be very subliminal indeed. It's a C for me.
    Add to that the washed out quality of the print, and it came out as a poor choice to cap the show. Unless you wanted to leave early. Which we did.
