Fuck me, what an appalling sack of shit. Although I'm sure there will be
a couple of people here who will love it and rave about the "impressive >visuals".

Yes.
Nicholas Cage can do NO WRONG.
This performance is his worst yet. I actually had to fast-forward one
scene because it was just too cringeworthy.
Anyway, good luck sitting through the first hour, which is painfully
slow and made worse by a director who doesn't seem to know when to end
a scene.

When he was sat on the toilet in his pants, screaming and crying, drinking vodka out of the bottle? Just another Tuesday night for me.

I loved every second of the first hour. The drawn-out, nightmarish quality reminded me a lot of Suspiria, The House by the Cemetery and even Dagon (Dagon! Haven't thought about that film in ages).

I'm more a gin person, myself, but they're functionally identical,
innit?

DAGON is criminally underrated if you ask me. Not so much a Lovecraft adaptation as a melange of Lovecraft stories presented in film form.
I really dug the constant rain motif. And the squid girl with the
EYES like fucking DINNER PLATES.
