• OT: The Equalizer 2 (Electric Boogaloo)

Much as I enjoyed 2014s "The Equalizer" starring Denzel Washington, it
was hardly an "epic" action film and just seemed to follow a glut of
theatrical remakes of cult TV shows from the 70s and 80s.

One remembers the Dukes of Hazzard, Starsky and Hutch, SWAT, Miami Vice
etc which have all had theatrical makeovers over the last few years,
most of which seemed to fair "reasonably" well, only to be quickly
    forgotten about soonafter.

So I was mightily surprised when an Equalizer 2 was announced, which was
duly released to cinemas the other week.

Anyway, seems our main protagonist, former intelligence operative turned vigilante Robert McCall, is now working as a cab driver (he was working
in a DIY store in the last film). But when a group of private killers
start bumping off former acquaintences of his within his old department
he sets out to solve the case himself and series of gun fights and cat
    and mouse chases ensue.

As with the last film, I really enjoyed this one. Denzel was on fine
form as the enigmatic good guy and there were some good, if not highly improbably, action scenes.

If you enjoyed the first film, you should enjoy this.

It was entertaining but I just did not understand the odd tonal shifts.
For example, at one point a bowling ball on a high shelf falls unto the
head of a villain saving Willis' character. Does DEATH WISH really need
    a Three Stooges gag?
