i do enjoy his podcast each week.
I just about managed to endure the first episode about cunting ROM-COMS.
What kind of a sick twisted bastard gets off on this shit? The clips of
HUGH GRANT and people KISSING left me traumatised and gasping for some good decent RAPE.
I had higher hopes for the second one, HEIST MOVIES, but it was full of almost entirely predictable clips and references. Kermode needs to stop banging on about the same old bollocks. The only point of interest was the news (to me) about the Wachowski 'brothers'. What times we live in!
Next week is COMING OF AGE DRAMAS. Who knew there were so many detestable genres?

I felt obliged to watch the one on horror films and was rewarded with a glimpse of KRUG!
I was overjoyed to also see the funniest scene from the
highly underrated Cockneys V Zombies included.

I watched it as well and was disappointed. Maybe it's that the subject of horror films is too big to cover in just an hour, or maybe the overall
theme of the series was aimed at tropes rather than anything deeper.
He also seemed to be overselling some of the movies - He mentioned
something about ONIBABA being terrifying, which it wasn't.

Never seen it. If that was the funniest scene, then I'm not sure
"underrated" would be the best way to describe it.

Rather subjective, no?
I knew exactly what I was going to get. The Exorcist has got to be the
most OVERRATED horror film of all time.
A big call to say that it would be terrifying to any significan part of the adult population in this day and age. Bits of it are creepy, I'll grant you.

It doesn't help that it was the only film I wasn't allowed to watch as a child. They were happy for a 10 year old to watch Dawn of the Dead,

That was the main problem for poms wasn't it? I saw it in the cinema
when it was finally re-released and the place was packed with people expecting the most shocking movie experience of their lives and
getting a 25 year old film with people talking a lot about ecumenical matters.

Remake or one of the J-Horror originals?
I've only seen the remake and, yes, it worked surprisingly well given the fairly wholesome package that it had to represent.

Though they're both the same director aren't they (not that that helped THE VANISHING). Have to admit I went through a Ju-on phase and watched all 6 (?) of the originals and remakes.
Just checked wikipedia and there are 13! Why has nobody told me about this one!? Love the poster.

I watched it in 2016 and this was my review from the time:
"A police officer in a small town investigates a series of murders.
Each murder seemed to be committed by someone who had fallen ill with
a mystery disease shortly before the killings. The locals suspect that
the events are linked to a mysterious Japanese man who lives in a
shack in the woods. When the police officer's daughter falls ill, he
is determined to find out what is going on. With a runtime of two and
a half hours, this Korean film is too long and whilst its odd mix of
themes and baffling plot keep you watching, you don't really get any answers."

Yeah there fuckin is. THE RING is an abortion, look at 'the video' for example... the original is raw and fantastic, the american version has

Some of those J horror remakes were fine. Nothing wrong with THE RING. >>>>
Yeah there fuckin is. THE RING is an abortion, look at 'the video' for
example... the original is raw and fantastic, the american version has
cgi centipedes
One, for fewer than three seconds. You still got a hard-on about that, huh?
This will be my legacy.
If it takes me 30 years of complaining to stop just one filmmaker from
going 'Whats creepy lookin? Chuck a bug in there! Okay i'll call the >wrangler... Hold the phone tommo, i reckon macca can whip one up on his >bloody computer, mate! Looks almost 1/10th as good as a real one that
would cost us $5 to buy, but fuck art am i right? To the pub!' then
perhaps my whole life has not been a waste.
The CGI centipede, and its couple of seconds of existance, is symbolic
