What does 'alt.history' mean?
History is history, but what is 'alt'?
Is there any difference between the newsgroups alt.history and soc.history?
Probably not much difference nowadays, but in the days when Usenet was
more used than it is now, soc.history would have been more for serious
academic history and alt.history more for pop history, but nowadays
people will be more inclined to cross post to both, and probably a few
others too, in the hope that someone, anyone, out there might read it
and respond.
