The Irish were not slaves. They had it worse than slaves
for a time. Chinese were also never slaves here - but they
did get a little more respect than the Irish.
In any case, slavery was hardly an American thing. The Jews
were slaves of the pharohs. The Romans never abolished
slavery. Islam kept slaves (and still plies the trade). China
had slaves. Slaves were a big deal in central Africa too ...
something the euros later took advantage of. In short, in
the history of the world, the USA had about the shortest
period of using slaves. Slavery has been the norm since
the dawn of civilization - a lack of slavery is an anomoly.
Just wait until the Chinese take over the world. They will
treat all as slaves and normality will be restored.
