Failed McConnell $500M bill leaves out $1,200 stimulus payments to
people, but gives coal industry $161 million


The programs included in the March CARES Act are gone, and even before
they expired "we find millions of people with very serious problems with
their finances," says Robert J. Blendon, a poll co-director and
executive director of the Harvard Opinion Research Program at the
Harvard Chan School, told NPR. "And it's going to get worse because
there is nothing for the people we surveyed who earn under $100,000 a
year to fall back on."

Because McConnell refuses to act in good faith on behalf of the American people. He's teeing up a vote Thursday on a bill that is clearly just a political ploy, written with his big corporate donors in mind, leaving
the people behind. While both Democrats and the Trump White House want
another round of direct payments of $1,200 to individuals, McConnell
leaves that out of his bill. Instead, he includes this, pointed out by
Sen. Bernie Sanders: "$161 million in corporate welfare to the coal
industry during a climate emergency."

U.S. To Owe More Than The Size Of Its Economy For The 1st Time In 75 Years

The federal government's accumulated debt burden is
projected to be larger than the overall economy next year for the first
time since 1946. Debt is expected to reach an all-time high of 107% of
gross domestic product in 2023.

The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office
expects the deficit to reach $3.3 trillion in the fiscal year ending
this month. That's about 16% of GDP — a level not seen since the end of
World War II in 1945.

Federal spending has soared to 32% of
GDP this fiscal year as the government tries to address both the
economic and public health costs of the pandemic. The coronavirus has
infected more than 6 million people in the United States and claimed
more than 180,000 lives here.

Red Ink Overflowing: In June, U.S. Borrowed A Typical Year's Worth

With tens of millions of people out of work and countless
businesses struggling or shuttered, tax revenues are falling. Revenues
are projected to be 16% of GDP this fiscal year — down from 16.3% last
year and 18% in 2015.

The Congressional Budget Office projects
that both revenues and spending will decline in the upcoming fiscal
year, which begins Oct. 1. Next year's deficit is expected to be 8.6% of
GDP.

Despite the historically high debt levels, the
government's borrowing costs are expected to remain low for the next
several years. The Congressional Budget Office projects interest costs
will decline through 2024 before turning upward in the latter half of
the decade.

Lincoln made his position clear. “I will say then that I am not, nor
ever have been, in favor of bringing about in any way the social and
political equality of the white and black races,” he began, going on to
say that he opposed blacks having the right to vote, to serve on juries,
to hold office and to intermarry with whites.

this weekend, to the fanfare of hundreds of supporters.

“I am bestowing this great honor upon myself, as nothing compares to

Trump Reportedly Seethed about Honoring John McCain After His Death,
Complained About Lowering Flags: ‘Guy Was a F*cking Loser’

Trump cancelled a visit to an American World War I cemetery near Paris
in 2018, telling aides: “Why should I go to that cemetery? It’s filled
with losers.”

“In a separate conversation on the same trip, Trump referred to the more
than 1,800 marines who lost their lives at Belleau Wood as ‘suckers’ for getting killed,” Goldberg adds.

Trump’s most infamous attack on a veteran was of course his long-running
feud with McCain. In 2015, when Trump was running for president, he said
of the Republican senator and former prisoner of war: “I like people who weren’t captured.” Trump as president continued to bash McCain, even
after his death in 2018.

According to The Atlantic, Trump privately fumed when flags were lowered
to half-staff commemorate McCain’s death:

Trump remained fixated on McCain, one of the few prominent

When McCain died, in August 2018, Trump told his senior staff, according
to three sources with direct knowledge of this event, “We’re not going

Trump was not invited to McCain’s funeral. (These sources, and others

McCain and American soldiers who fought and died in World War I aren’t
the only losers in Trump’s book, according to Goldberg. He continues:

On at least two occasions since becoming president, according to
three sources with direct knowledge of his views, Trump referred to
former President George H. W. Bush as a “loser” for being shot down by
the Japanese as a Navy pilot in World War II. (Bush escaped capture, but
eight other men shot down during the same mission were caught, tortured,
and executed by Japanese soldiers.)

‘My husband likes to watch and he’s wearing a Speedo’: Falwell ‘pool boy’ recalls meeting the couple in Trump hotel.

Granda recalled Becki suggesting they go to the Falwell’s hotel room.

“Michael is well-connected in Miami. He will get this buried and will
make those photos go away,” Granda relayed Becki Falwell’s threat.

Cohen was then secretly taped by comedian Tom Arnold talking about the Falwell’s explicit photos.
